This is still a missing person case. Without a body the police have got nothing. They compromised the crime scene and DNA evidence is doubtful at best. Fortunately, the McCanns are upper middle class and well-connected, or the Portuguese police would be getting lot more hands on. Inquisition come to mind? Don't let the bastards grind you down.

I think the police just want to get closure on this case as it's embarrassing for them and they'll do anything - even framing the McCanns to save face and look like they have a result.

Gery and Kate you must be in agony over this. Please know that every rational person in on your site and believes you had nothing to do with Maddie's disappearance.

Hi Gerry and Kate, we are all behind you both, we believe that you are innocent and would never have hurt your lovely little girl. Only someone who has lost a child or has had one gone missing can truly appreciate how worried you must be feeling and how hurt you must feel at this time with these stupid allegations by the police there. We hope the police will come to their senses and concentrate more on finding Madeleine. Our thoughts are with you and your other young children. We hope and pray for you both and for Madeleine that she is found soon. God bless you both.

We can't believe that the two people who quite obviously love this little girl the most are now being accused of her murder. Why are the police treating you in this way and why aren't our government doing more to help you. We hope and pray that Madeleine will be found safe and well, please don't lose hope. Ours prayers and thoughts and with you and your family.

Mr and Mrs McCann, You are enduring such a nightmare and it has just been made worse for you. You are so incredibly brave. You are being brave and strong for the sake of your sweet little daughter. Your prayers are obviously helping you to cope, well done. I believe that the police are simply trying to close this case as quickly as possible so that they can be rewarded will a 'well done' medal. Please, dear God, bring back your lovely child alive and well so that the police will realise the dreadful mistake they have made in falsely accusing you both. May God Bless you both and keep being brave. We all admire your strength at this difficult time.

Keep your faith Kate and Gerry and keep strong, safe in the knowledge that you are doing everything you can for the safe return of a beautiful little girl, stay strong for Sean and Amilee and remember that sometimes things in life get worst before they get better, i pray every night that things get better for you both, your family and that Madeleine can return to the loving stable life that you have raised her in. I wish that your nightmare ends and i send you all my strength, people are still behind you and whilst there maybe the tough/testing times, please remember that so very many people from here and afar support you and will continue to offer their support. What the police have done is unthinkable, but like i have said keep your faith. Hugs x

Hi Madeleine's family,

This must be the most trying time for you all and i can't image what it must be like to lose a child. Please let the police follow up all lines of their enquiries/leads/evidences, as this could lead to the/any missing links where Madeleine is. It must be the most horrible situation for you both to have this type of accusation put to you but this can only allow all aspects of Madeleine's disappearance to be followed up.Welcome this approach as it will show the truth and let the world know that you both had nothing to do with Madeleine's disappearance. You both know that everyone will keep looking and God willing your child will be back in your arms.

MY THOUGHTS ARE WITH YOU ALL AND GODBLESS

This is a message for Kate and Gerry. We briefly met at the Ocean Club in June (my daughter Ella gave you a cat for Madeleine). My heart goes out to you both I cannot believe that it has come to this. I wish there was something the British public could do to show their support. We cannot allow two innocent people to be treated like this. Those people who criticise you should remember that this could have happened to anyone. Having been to the Ocean Club we know how close the Tapas bar was to your room. My husband and I both agreed it would just be like having a meal at the end of the garden - we would have done the same. People should not judge you if they haven't even been there. Something has been worrying me. B4 we went I became concerned as I read reports saying there were lots of break-in's at the Ocean Club. I became so concerned that I contacted the tour operator who assured me that it would be fine as we were not on the ground floor. Have the police thought that this could have been a break-in gone wrong? Keep strong and know you have lots of support.

As a mother myself, I can only begin to imagine the anguish this family is already going through. These dreadful suggestions made by Portuguese Police seem so far-fetched - even the logistics of what they are suggesting appear to be impossible. I wonder whether the police are now so desperate to draw this case to a close because of pressures of criticism or because the tourist resort and local economy loses money whilst this case is still unsolved and tourists believe the area isn't safe. I am appalled and sickened by the reaction of some people who are pre-judging/pre-empting the conclusion of this case - This isn't a soap drama - these are real people suffering real pain. My hope is that the family will stay strong, that the investigation will proceed in an efficient and accurate manner...and most of all that Madeleine is returned safely home.
