Dear Mr and Mrs McCann
I watched your documentary last night and felt I must write to you.

You are amazingly strong and loving parents - I am so sorry that this awful thing has happened.

I have two young children and can't begin to imagine what you are going through.

I continue to pray for the safe return of your beautiful daughter.

With love and best wishes

I feel sorry for you that you daughter hasn't been found yet.
You are now beginning to come across as a bit patronising though - wanting an amber alert system because of your own downfall.
The amber alert will be a fantastic thing once set up!! And I hope that when it swings into action it will be able to help families.
Bu, you can only look at your own actions about Maddy. You left her, you weren't looking after her & no matter how hard you try - the british public will always see you as failing parents.
I do hope you find her.

Dear Kate & Gerry,

I have just watched your documentary & felt that I had to send you a message of support.
I have 3 children. 2 girls 6 & 4 & a baby boy of 18 months. When Madeleine went missing last year my 2 girls wanted to tie yellow ribbons on the lamp post outside our house. Quite often they will ask if Madeleine is home yet. I tell them that her Mummy & Daddy are doing everything they can to find her.
Every parent makes mistakes but everyone can see what kind of parents you are - The best kind, you couldnt be doing more.
I want you to know that the yellow ribbons will stay on our lamp post until your lovely Madeleine comes home.
With all my support & very best wishes to you & your family,

Vanessa

Dear Kate & Gerry,
I missed last night's programme but did see you on this mornings news. I am glad that you both look so positive on what musy be the worst time for both you and your respective families, so near Madelenes abduction. I have 5 Grandkids and would hate to be in your position. I think you have both been through enough without people having to tell you what you should have done. I would challenge any parent to say that they are perfect, I am sure you are not the only parents who have left their children in what would have appeared to have been a secure enviroment.
I remember many years ago while on holiday on the Isle of Man leaving my son in our hotel. Although I did have concernes about leaving him. I was sure he was safe as there was a babysitting service who looked in on him. We were only away for just over an hour, we like you had gone out to have a meal. I would by no means consider myself a bad parent in doing this.
This is many years ago now and the world has changed now I would think twice about it now especially after what happened to your lovely Madaline. This by no means a critisisim, you did what you thought was right at the time. What is done is done and time cann't change that.
Never give up hope, I pray that one day she will be found and your family can be complete again.
Love & God Bless to you both
Susan

Gerry and Kate,

I have just seen you on BBC 1 Breakfast, having to rake over everything again, continually having to justify your actions.

As hard as it is, don't justify your actions anymore. You don't have to. How I wish that those people passing comment on your actions, were under investigation themselves, where guaranteed, we would find any number of 'sins', that are only kept well hidden because this traversty hasn't happened to them!

Hold your heads high, and do what you have to do. Pay your mortgage, provide your needs, and live as best you can during this difficult time. And remember, every minute you spend justifying or apologising for your actions, is a minute that could be spent on finding Maddy. Nobody, in their right mind can accuse you of not loving your daughter.

You will always suffer at the hands of these 'holier than though' human beings who live in glass houses, from here on out, but it will serve to make you stronger, kinder and more tolerant human beings.

Know that your daughter's face is burnt into my really bad memory, and that in itself is a small miracle. I will continue to note every blonde child I see. As you do. Find comfort in those small miracles. I hope there are many more to come.

My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family, and the dignified and determined manner in which you are conducting yourselves remain an inspiration to me.

Take care,

I watched the documentary tonight and was deeply moved by the pain evident in the eyes of Kate and Gerry. I was appalled by the treatment from journalists and am disgusted that this couple have been portrayed as suspects. Around four years ago there was an attempted abduction of my daughter. The man responsible had many weapons in his van and the police hinted about prior convictions. However as the children were so young, and not good witnesses, there was no conviction. So a predator is still out there. To this day I still feel pain and guilt (my daughter was out playing fairly late)although my daughter is fine. Please do not blame yourselves for what happened. It is a sign of goodness and decency that you do not anticipate the evil in the world. Our family send you good wishes and hope for the return of your beautiful daughter.

whatever the rights and wrongs and peoples opinions nobody should ever have to go through this agony .
I pray for Madeline to be home and for information of where she is .

I Sent a photograph to the police which had a child in the background who we all thought looked like Madeline it was in this country and although it seemed so unbelievable we had to try and i Urge everyone to do the same even if it is notMadeline and you feel silly you have to try.the Amber Alert is needed now.

Dear Kate and Gerry, I can only imagine the torture you and your family have been going through this last year it must be devastating. I have a daughter who has just turned 4years old and the thought of it happening to her brings tears to my eyes. I think you are completely right in keeping her in the news we need to be constantly reminded of her to give the best chance of someone spotting her. I completely support you in the amber alert system every country should have one our children are so important i carnt believe that anyone can even question why we should have one. I truely believe that madaline is out there somewhere alive and i hope that she is found safe and well in the near future. Please never give up hope, I am sure maddy will never give up hope that one day she will be reunited with her mummy and daddy.
i dont really know what else to say other than you have my full support keep doing what your doing she has to be somewhere.
good luck and take care

Dear Kate and Gerry and family, I just want you to know that my family pray for yours every day. I have 3 girls one of which is coming up for 5 just like Madeleine, her name is Amelie, she talks about Madeleine all of the time. We live in Spain and fully support the Amber Alert system. We were very active with the poster campaign in the beginning and Madeleine's face along side Geronimos is, at the moment, all over our small village, which lies near the borders of Sevilla, Malaga and Cadiz. It is very important that these MEPs sign up and I am astonished that not everyone has.I would like to hear their reasons!!! Please know that our whole village prays for you and there is so much love in the world I hope you never doubt it and can feel the warmth of it from the majority of people around the world who hear your story and think of you always.
With love to you all especially Madeleine from the Lomas family in Campillos.xxxx

You and your children are so much in my thoughts and prayers. I have 5 children ranging in age from 17 to 28. There have so many moments throughout their lives when I have thought something awful may have befallen them - only yesterday my 20yr old daughter could not be reached via mobile whilst gap year travelling in India and Thailand - she had been away for 3 months, regularly keeping in touch, and was on her own for one night in Bangkok prior to returning home She is now back with us, but when I collected her from Heathrow this morning I thought of you both and dear Madeleine.I fervently hope and pray that your outcome will be a happy one - as parents we are never sure that we are getting it right, but we just try to do our best. I will light a candle for Madeleine and will continue to do so until you find her. With love to you all. Stay strong! Annie

I don;t really understand these things or what I'm voting for - I just wanted to tell Kate and Gerry how much their story tonight on ITV - 30.4.08 - touched my heart and how I wept for them. No one with eyes like that could have hurt their child and their sadnees and their love was not only evident - it reached out to me and hurt me...May God pl reunite you with your little one, Kate and Gerry, and may you know that others care - I ache for you...Go d bless you...I'm a medium and a psychic and I cannot help but feel as you do that your child is still alive.I think in time you'll find her and I will truly try to help you.Til then pl be strong and let your love bring you strength in the dreadful days to come..Listen only
to the truth of your own hearts and in time 'forgive you'? We all do things that we regret and you do so clearly love her.... Let nothing and no one destroy you or the l,ove you share together. I wish there were more families who cared like you..In all ways, you;re beautiful...we love you...that's what matters now. I wish you all the luck in all the world. If it;s meant to be, you'll find her..To Madeline, and the twins and you - be thinking of you...Alex.x
